We’re proud to announce

Our city centre transformation is coming along nicely. The Deansgate-Castlefield stop has been turned into a green oasis in the city. We’ve built a new stop at Exchange Square, right near your favourite shops. And we’ve made Victoria posh, with a much-needed makeover creating a bigger, brighter and better tram stop.

a new oasis in the city

Deansgate-Castlefield stop is no longer just a tram stop. With trees, a ‘living wall’ and sedum panels teeming with wildflowers between the tram tracks, passengers are now enjoying a calm and peaceful green oasis right in the heart of the city!

The new look stop now boast two new platforms at the stop, finished with green slate paving.  Two huge passenger shelters cast shadows of leaves on to the platforms, which are surrounded by shrubbery.

With a brand new line of track and a turn-back, the stop will play a crucial role in helping get more trams through the city on the  transformational Second City Crossing.

Thanks to funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), a modern glazed bridge now links the stop with Deansgate Rail Station. Two striking sets of steps at either ends of the stop offer access to the street below, while and a new passenger lift next to the Deansgate 'living wall' offer access for all.
